Biography:

Prof. H. Abdurrahman Mas'ud, Ph.D., is an esteemed scholar specializing in Islamic History and Culture (ISKI). With a wealth of experience, he has participated in numerous international activities, including serving as a speaker at the Pattani Conference on Nusantara Scholars' Thoughts in Thailand in July 2023 and as a member of the Selection Committee for Rector Candidates of State Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKIN) across Indonesia since 2022, as well as the Selection Committee for Officials of Level 1 and 2 of the Indonesian Ideology Pancasila Development Board (BPIP). Beyond his academic pursuits, he has authored several books, notably "Al-I`tidal Menuju Religiusitas Inklusif" in 2022 and "Mendakwahkan Smiling Islam: Dialog Kemanusiaan Islam dan Barat" in 2019, and serves as the Chairman of the Association of Movement Lecturers (ADP) since 2021. Currently, he holds the position of Professor at UIN Walisongo, actively teaching, researching, and supervising dissertations at several UIN/PTKIN since 2020. Prior to this, he served as the Head of Research and Training Agency at the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia from 2014 to 2020. Throughout his career, he has held significant roles, including leading the Indonesian delegation to the 10th Human Rights Dialogue in Oslo, Norway in 2011 and serving as the Acting Director General of Christian Religious Guidance at the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Indonesia in 2017. Professor Mas'ud earned his Ph.D. from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1997 and his master's degree from the Faculty of Education at IAIN/UIN Jakarta in 1992. He completed his bachelor's degree at the same institution in 1987. He is an alumnus of Madrasah Qudsiyyah Kudus, where he studied from 1970 to 1979, and also a former student of the late Dr. (HC) KH. Sahal Mahfudz from 1977 to 1978.
